I am so proud of all of my Children of the Night for all of their hard work and the fangtastic showing from Team Bite-Me. Now we can all put down our hooks and needles and send the spindles to rest for a brief respite and focus on regrouping and recruiting new members for Team Bite-Me.
Yes, yes, calm down all of you salivating succubi. New blood is very exciting but we do not want to scare off all of the fresh meat. Until signups open on May 15, it is probably a good idea to focus more on projects for next tournament or taking a break from Nerd Wars to enjoy the month without a challenge or deadline.
In either case, may I offer a suggestion as to how to spend the remaining nights of May? You should discover or perhaps rediscover the Count Saint Germain series of books by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro. Yarbro’s Saint Germain, a 4,000 year old vampire, has traveled around the world and through the ages and this series recounts his historical adventures with amazing detail and fresh plots. Politics, history, horror, and some romance get mixed together and the novels take you to familiar settings like Rome in the time of Nero or the court of Charlemagne but expect to visit lesser known times and places as well. With over 20 novels published in this series over the last 32 years along with various short stories, it is a testament to the author’s talent that each novel continues to draw the reader in and keep hold of them until the book is finished. I recommend these books for anyone looking for a break from typical vampire stories. The history, cultures, and characters that are examined are sure to inspire numerous projects for the next tournament as well.
Speaking of projects for next tournament, how about some nice new yarn to make them!
That’s right, the winners of the Son of the Best Yarn Giveaway Ever have been drawn (and quartered!) and lets see who our lucky Children of the Night are…
First off, our Dark Mother, matrunda has graciously provided a skein of this loveliness…
And the lucky undead fiber artist is….Sabinerose! I also want to add a special congrats to Sabinerose for completing all 18 challenges over the last tournament. All of Team Bite-Me is weeping tewars of blood over her defection to Team Hellmouth next tournament. I personally will miss seeing her Ravatar so often…I love how evil Willow looks in it!
The second selection is a little something I concocted myself.
And the resurrected recipient is…..TwigiTeiji! Congrats on your new yarn, I hope to see back with us next tournament because I cannot wait to see what you create with it.
So how excited are we for the next tournament to start? I know I am! Plus, I plan to return with more yarn to give away each month of the next tournament so if you have any vampy color suggestions feel free to leave them in the comments. It is always a good idea to keep the immortal creatures happy. So enjoy this brief torpor until on the first of June, we rise, rested and ravenous, to reduce the competition to bloody rags of tattered knitting and ravished
