Team Mythology is awesome. Here’s why…

Hi everyone! I’m Ali(bear) from Team Mythology and I’m going to be the Team Mythology blogger for this tournament. This is my first time being on a Nerd Wars team, and I’m so glad I was put on Team Mythology! As we’re a brand spankin’ new team, I figured I would give everyone a run down of what we’re all about.

So, here’s what Team Mythology covers!

Fairy Tales and Folklore

This is my favorite category Team Mythology covers. From the dark stories of the Grimm brothers to Hans Christian Anderson (whose stories often teeter between being self-loathing and hopelessly romantic), we have them all. We have Charles Perrault, a French author who laid down the foundations for the fairy tale and Alexander Afanasyev, a Russian folklorist who published over 600 folktales. We also have folktales from every other culture, from Chinese to African to Native American. Personally I can’t wait to learn about Scandinavian and Irish folktales.

Gods and Goddesses

We have Thor, Venus, Zeus, Ra, Akuma, Rainbow-Snake (yeah, Rainbow-Snake) and many, many others. There are thousands of stories based around the gods and goddesses of the world. With this category alone, the creative crafters in Team Mythology could be inspired for years worth of tournaments. But, since we like having options, we offer even more awesomness like…

Mythological Creatures

Three headed dogs? We have those. Fairies? Pixies? Mermaids? Dryads? Check, check, check annnd check. We also have the unicorn, considered by some to be the crème de la crème of mythological creatures. And there be dragons on our team, too. We have creatures that are beautiful and innocent, and creatures that are gruesome and deadly, so Team Mythology can easily cater to anyone’s taste.

Mythology

Of course Team Mythology would cover mythology. ;) Mythology covers creation (and destruction) myths as well as classic tales of heroes. Here you can find inspiration in the Epic of Gilgamesh, the Labours of Hercules and Odysseus and the Trojan Horse. There are African myths about elephants, Chinese myths about ghosts, flood myths told by several different cultures, and of course, nearly every culture has myths about the afterlife.

As you can see, Team Mythology is pretty awesome, and it has a lot to offer. We’re a creative group of crafters, eager to learn new stories from different cultures, itching to pick up our needles and hooks and we’re positively eager to kick some butt this tournament.

The battle will begin the day after tomorrow. Fellow Mythology Nerds, wind your yarn, purchase your patterns, find your darning needles… prepare for battle. Team, let’s make our first tournament a glorious battle of yarn and wits!

Great Job alibear! :) I think I must now make something that involves rainbow snake. However, the head of a kangaroo may be a bit hard to crochet.
