Well, term is about to start and the Common Room is looking far too neat – no scorch marks on the ceiling, no crumpled paper in the corner, no crumbs on the seats………. We shall have to do something about that!
What are you looking forward to most? The eager faces of the young wizard students? Meeting up with your colleagues old and new? The cheese trolley? I think I know which would get my vote!
I am intrigued by the new rules – have you been taking part in the thread to get us used to some of the new ideas? It has been fun, but I am not sure how enlightened I am about the new style Nerd Wars.
Have you made good use of your January? I have been trying to get a few bits finished – with not too much success it has to be said……. It will be interesting to see if I manage to reduce my stash at all over the next 12 months………………..
I’m ignoring the new rules until I need to know them. Spoken like a true wizzard! I’m trying to finish off a test knit which is due in a day or two and is fair isle so has a billion ends to deal with – blargh! Of course, I’ve been wasting my time thinking of a dissertation.
I have made 2 pair of mittens. a pair of fingerless mitts and a hat to match, and 2 Quantum Weather Butterflies so far in January. Is that good use of my time?
I didn’t know the old rules, so I figure I’ll wait till someone tells me what to do, or ask questions when it’s time.
I couldn’t keep up with the new rules thread. I have the same trouble with the Otaku lounge and the challenge threads during the tournaments. Too many posts per day. Once I get more than 100 posts behind on a thread, I tend to surrender and ignore it.
As for what I’m most looking forward to, the scumble and the dessert trolley, of course.
I’m wasting my entire January playing Webkinz and wallowing about on Ravelry. I’m sure I’ll live to regret it. As for the new rules, I haven’t noticed anything so radical as to cause worry. If something shows up, the Team will hammer it out. I do have a dissertation (or two) lined up. It will be an interesting tournament…especially if I don’t get my ducks in a row.
What duck?
lol
Cheese trolley!!!
Like Finarda, I’ve been ignoring the new rules. I gave up trying to second-guess the old rules, so I’m not even going to try to plan for these.
I’ve had a major course to teach throughout January, so I haven’t done as much knitting as I’d like. I’ve finished some small gifts, though, and plan to finish the last of those this weekend. I’m ready to start a new tournament, dissertation-less this time.
Good use of January? Nope, I seem to have frittered it all away. Some work on a pair of socks that I’m not too happy with at the moment.
I did not participate in the fun times thread. Didn’t even look at it, since I usually have know idea about what’s going on in those threads. I did try looking at the questions thread for the new rules a time or two, but it seemed pointless as long as they weren’t publishing the new rules.
It seems to me that dropping a category will be very limiting, since giving geeks doesn’t usually work for me, and the Nerdology probably won’t work as well (assuming they follow the past pattern of Nerd Culture challenges). At least they went up to five challenges from the four that were originally posted on the challenge categories page.
But I can’t give up access to the cheese trolley, so here I am.
